The idea that someone is putting this negligible idea of their brothers fiancé being “family” above their own morals is wild to me. Distancing yourself from someone who is bad for your mental health and your social identity is good and proactive. All I can think is that the reaction of Morgan and Ryland is cowardly. He's not even thinking about it well as a business, he just seems to want easy adsense money NOW. even if you ignore ALL the problematic things about ryland etc... if he wanted to have a podcast talking about celebrity pop culture, he could do it. It might not get great views on youtube right away. thats fine. but there are plenty of pop culture/celebrity gossip podcasts out there that exist and have grown followings and found success! It just seems like Ryland isnt actually interested in starting a new business with this podcast, as much as he is in getting easy clicks right now on youtube by exploiting the algorithm.

Look I'm not gonna go to either of their channels and hate on them, but to say that Ryland and Morgan can't distance themselves because they're family ins't entirely true. i’m not a fan of shane and i never was, i just watched his videos, and in fact he always gave me fake vibes like he was really putting on a show for the videos, ever since the food videos. like if you observe them after every bite he took in those videos there’s always a jump cut and i’m sure he wasn’t actually eating the food, and i know he’s been struggling with eating disorders and that has all been public since then but why make food centered videos if you have a bad relationship with food. anyway what i actually want to say is that shane has the right of having a platform if he wants to and in turn the community has the right to exclude him. he’s probably never gonna get to the level of fame he used to have and youtube might never even monetize him. but he has the right of going on with his life. do people really want him to disappear or die or sth? he can’t change the past but i wouldn’t want a person to stay depressed and hunted down his entire life. he didn’t kill anyone and as far as we know he hasn’t committed any heinous crimes, he’s just behaved in ways that many of us don’t approve of, but i don’t believe he’s a danger to society

I watched a random video while perusing the internet, of Shane Dawson and his boyfriend what's-his-name in Hollywood I think it was. Shane was hunkered down trying to hide behind his boyfriend looking all sketchy and worried. I thought to myself, now why doesn't he just keep walking and ignore the camera? Why the drama? Personally, I see no reason to waste camera time on the guy. Ok maybe to watch his dramatics but that's about it.

I understand that it's difficult for Morgan to cut ties with Shane because her brother is engaged to him, and they are in contact due to that. But she could still not support Shane or dimiss what he has done. My brother has had partners I absolutely hated, especially his long term girlfriend. Sure, family holidays suck if you don't like each other. But at least you can say that you don't excuse certain things. She can still be in contact with Ryland without liking Shane. I don't know why people always have to chose between "both of us or no one". We aren't in pre-school anymore. Ryland is a whole different story.
